New information technologies provide opportunities to better support government’s transparency through Open Data. At the same time, Open Data allow citizens to hold Government accountable for its actions. One of the challenges that makes the uptake of data low is lack of skills in working with data and lack of technical skills for data manipulations at journalists, social activists and practitioners.
Promotion of alternative data - Open Data- among researchers and journalists to improve watchdog activities by developing skills in working with data and data manipulations.
Innovations for change outcomes:
- A one-week School of Open Data for 25 Moldovan young researchers and journalists, with hands on activities provided by local and Slovak experts.
- Data-driven investigations on topics as open contracting, anti-corruption in the field of public procurement, financial fraud, money laundering, integrity issues, abuse of power in the public sector.
- A three-month fellowship for 6 selected fellows and a 4 days study visit to Slovakia.
