Using blockchain – a technology that cannot be corrupted

Problem statement:

UN agencies in Moldova use a large number of cars to support their operations. The perception is that there are more UN cars than would be required (over supply), while at the same time it can prove challenging to find a car, or it takes a long time to mobilize one, in particular for use outside the capital, even if some cars can be idle. Consistent data is missing on the total number of cars, fuel consumption and other key benchmarks.

MiLab innovative approach:

For the first time in Moldova, blockchain's potential and benefits are being tested and piloted.

Innovations for change outcomes:

  • Desktop and mobile application piloted for three months within UN entities
  • Secured mechanism, incorruptible, decentralized that allows each user to connect to a shared database, open source, to connect to a peer-to-peer network and to manage the system on an autonomous way
  • More efficiency, transparency and data availability regarding the use of the vehicles by the UN entities
